Theatre Under The Gun

Delinquent Theatre is stoked to announce our participation in the Here Be Monsters Festival’s Theatre Under the Gun!  Starting on Wednesday October 26th, we will have just over 48 hours to to create a brand new piece of theatre.  We have a few ideas up our sleeve, and we’re ready for all nighters, crazy ideas, and some high-pressure creativity.

Our team includes Delinquent regulars David Kaye (Spring Awakening and Dog Sees God), Brian Cochrane (PARKED), Jonathan Tsang (Dog Sees God), and new friends Claire Hesselgrave and Arlen Tom.  Throughout the festival we will be blogging, tweeting, and vlogging here at delinquenttheatre.com, and at our brand new twitter account: follow us at @delinquentheatr!

You’ll be able to see the finished product on the Performance Work Stage at 8PM on October 28th and 29th.  For full information on the fantastic Here Be Monsters Festival, visit their website!

What a Feeling!

Karina and Sarah celebrate a sold out show!

Last night, Delinquent Theatre fans and new friends packed Carousel Theatre’s studio stage to the rafters, and the OMG crew celebrated their first sold out show! In a festival of 98 fantastic shows, it can be hard to find an audience, but the word is out about Oh My God. We’ve had a fantastic time so far being inspired by the fabulous shows we’ve seen, and making new friends from all over Canada! From Fringe’s fabulous volunteers to the amazing folks who take time off work to see as many shows as possible, the Fringe spirit is pumping on Granville Island.

The word is out! Oh My God is a hit. Buy your tickets early online at http://www.vancouverfringe.com or in person at the Fringe Box Office, or get to the show Box Office 45 minutes before the show.

Fringe, Fliers, and a Very Flattering Review!

Hello Delinquents,

The Fringe Festival is upon  us!  The first four days have seen the Delinquent gang hard at work making new friends, seeing some exciting theatre, hanging out at the Fringe bar, and of course delighting audiences with Oh My God!  We’ve even had our first review – here’s what Kyira Korrigan from Plank Magazine had to say…

This play was simple, and simply superb. The actors (Karina Palmitesta and Sarah ‘Tich’ Wilson) and direction were both spot-on; the writing of Josephine Mitchell is genuine and rich without any sense of effort.  I recognized these girls, even though I’d never been them, because the few hours shown in their life were real – the story had heart. And, genuine heart, shared in well-crafted live theatre, is never boring. When a playwright, actors and all the people behind the scenes create a show which is true in the way this one is, it is a delight to do our part of being the audience.

Thanks, Plank! We’ve had a blast so far Fringing it up – we hope you will come check out Oh My God and have a drink with us at the bar after.  Delinquents Laura and Christine also suggest you check out Delinquent Theatre alumni in Mr. Boat-Head’s Electrical Dreamship (Brendan Albano, Director and Designer for Our Time and Spring Awakening), The Progressive Polygamists (Actor Pippa Mackie, Spring Awakening) and Figment (actor David Kaye, Spring Awakening).

In the mean time, look for the Delinquent crew hanging out on Granville Island until closing on September 18th – and we’ll look for your butt in a seat at Carousel Theatre on Wednesday the 14th at 8, Thursday the 15th at 10:45, Friday the 16th at 7, Saturday the 17th at 5:45 OR 10:30, or Sunday the 18th at 2.  (That’s a hint)

Oh My God – the Photo Shoot!

On Thursday, Delinquent Theatre ADs Laura and Christine, and Oh My God actors Sarah and Karina headed down to St. Pauls Anglican Church in the West End to shoot our press photos.

We worked up a sweat posing, adjusting, directing, focusing and shooting for over an hour and a half, but we’re pretty happy with the result.  See for yourself!

We’d like to thank Markus and Barry at St. Pauls Anglican Church for letting use their beautiful church for our photo shoot.  St. Pauls is a warm and wonderful place, and we thank them for their support!
